Dub Not Dubya

Who is stupider? So, I was at a sandwich place for a late lunch. They had Headline News on with the sound down (and some crappy radio station on for noise.) I read the little headlines on the bottom of the screen--not the scroll, but the ones that appear as one new blurb every few seconds. There was a little glare on the screen, so I wasn't sure if I was seeing correctly. I got up so I could look from a different angle. Yes, sure enough, the blurb said that Bush referred to marriage as a "scarred institution." I even waited around until the blurb came around again to make sure I had read it right. Yes, there it was again. So I was left to ask myself, was this another stupid thing out of Bush's mouth, or another stupid mistake on the part of Headline News? After all, Headline News had two or three grammatical errors that appeared on other blurbs while I was watching. So when I got home, I searched for both phrases on Google News. Looks like he said "sacred," not "scarred." So at this writing, it appears that Headline News is stupider than Bush. But then again, we all know that reporters/editors have been cleaning up his grammar and diction in news stories for years, so maybe it was someone at Headline News actually reporting the truth instead. Which came first: the chickenhawk or egg on their faces? Or something like that...
